Updating the Himalayan Database for the Macintosh with CrossOver

There are three ways to update the data in the Himalayan Database for Macintosh users running the database with Crossover:

(1)mApply the update files to the currently installed Himalayan Database on your Macintosh computer. This method will preserve any saved search filters.

The Spring 2018 Update through the Spring-Summer 2024 Update to the Himalayan Database contain the climbing data for the spring 2018 through the spring-summer 2024 seasons as well as additions and corrections for previous data in the Himalayan Database. These updates should be applied in sequential order. The update files are not readable as stand-alone documents without an existing database. You will need to apply them to your current copy of the Himalayan Database installed on your computer. The complete instructions for updating the Himalayan Database using the update files are given in the section “Updating the Database” in Appendix K: CrossOver for the Mac.

(2)mDelete the current CrossOver bottle (normally named Himal) and reinstall a new Himal bottle that contains the updated HIMDATA folder. The complete instructions for installing Himalayan Database bottles are given in Appendix K: CrossOver for the Mac.

(3)mReplace the Himalayan Database folder in the CrossOver Himal bottle. In this case you will be replacing only the Himalayan Database folder on your C: drive. This method is a bit more complicated than updating using the update files described above. The complete instructions for updating the Himalayan Database by replacing components are given in the section “Replacing Components of the Database” in Appendix K: CrossOver for the Mac.

If you wish to preserve any saved search filters, you must first export them to an external file and then reimport them after the HIMDATA folder is replaced (see the section "Exporting and Importing Filter Sets" in the Himalayan Database Program Guide).
